KC O’DOUWD
Biography

KC O`Douwd is a German singer-songwriter, composer and producer based in
Switzerland. From sassy club anthem ‘B*tch’ (2016) to heartfelt new single ‘Private Dancer’
(2020), KC is known for his versatile and eclectic style that slides between a variety of
genres including pop, soul, funk, dance and house.

Having performed around Europe, America and Africa, KC is no stranger to the stage.
The artist grew up in a musical family where his grandmother, a renowned music teacher,
taught him how to play the piano at aged six, and his aunt – a successful soprano – helped
him land his first stage experience. KC has been dazzling global audiences ever since.
KC’s artistic talent showed up early, manifesting itself in music, designing clothes, and
taking pictures. He began classical vocal training in his late teens, with an intensive and
formative five-year apprenticeship. From then, his creative career blossomed. He began
producing – including the 2-hour show ‘Electricity’ (1998) with Terrel Woodbury and Guido
Bernard which ran for over three years, ’Black and White’ (2000-2006) which toured
around Europe and led to guest appearances on Potsdamer Platz, radio and TV.
In 2006, after separating from ‘Black and White’, KC began nurturing his solo career. He
produced original songs in German and English, composed for other artists and directed
video productions. In 2016, he performed ‘Soulmates’ live – a collection of songs he wrote
and composed along with piano accompaniment. In 2018, KC incepted “The Vision Tour”
with young Swiss musicians – a stage show that showcased original and cover songs.
These tracks were recorded at Switzerland’s renowned Power Play Studios, known for
working with artists like Lady Gaga, Lenny Kravitz and Prince.

Influenced by iconic artists like David Bowie, Eurythmics, Mick Hucknall, Culture Club and
Tina Turner – as well as contemporary peers and friends such as Clean Bandit, Alvaro
Soler, Kunz, Conchita Wurst and Boy George – the singer-songwriter says that music is his
entire life: “I wake up and I have music in me.”

O’Douwd grew up in an extremely musical family. 

His grandmother, a renowned music teacher, taught him the music apprenticeship at the age of six and showed him how to play the piano. Through an aunt who was successful as a soprano, he had his FIrststage experience as a child. O’Douwd’s artistic talent showed up early, his interest was not only in music. He sang, designed his own clothes and took pictures. He celebrated his FIrst successes in photography, when he was 11 he won his

first photo competition with a black and white portrait.

In parallel to his vocal training, he also acquired skills in acting and moderation.
At the age of 19, he began classical vocal training, which he financed himself. The five-year apprenticeship was a very intensive and formative time for O’Douwd, histeachers and companions were Guido Bernard and Michael Flannagan. After his training, various projects with renowned artists followed. O’Douwd was on stage with Keith Tynes (The Patters), Ingrid Arthur (Weather Girls), Wanda Jackson (tour guide by Elvis Presley). At the opening of Planet Hollywood 1997 in Munich by Arnold Schwarzenegger, he sang together with a choir project. At the time, he not only enthused the “Governator”, but also created a good atmosphere with Bernd Eichingerand Iris Berben.

O’Douwd not only made a name for himself as a singer. In 1998, together with Terrel Woodbury and Guido Bernard, he produced the 2-hour show “Electricity”, which premiered in Munich and was played throughout Germany for over 3years.

From this production an artistic friendship with Terrel Woodbury grew. O’Douwd and Woodbury were “Black and White”, 2000-2006 they toured with their program all over Europe and were celebrated on open air and big stages. As a mean act you made guest appearances at Potsdamer Platz and were guests onradio and TV.

After separating Black and White in 2006, O’Douwd concentrated on his solo career. He produced his own songs in German and English, composed for other artists and directed video productions in Switzerland. O’Douwd was influenced by David Bowie, Eurythmics, Prince, Mick Hucknall, Culture Club, Tina Turner, Jule  Neigel and PE Werner in his artistic work. He got to know musicians such as Clean Bandit, Alvaro Soler, Kunz, Conchita Wurst, Jaron Rovensky andBoy George personally.

In 2016 he performed live with his project “Soulmates” in Switzerland. With Soulmates he presented songs
composed and written by him with piano accompaniment.
